The crown of a healthy tree should always be at least two thirds of the overall height and where that gets out of hand, crown lifting work needs to occur.
This sees the shortening of some of the primary branches and the removal of certain secondary branches at the same time. This helps rebalance the tree in line with the two thirds height ratio and secures its future.
